| Very sharp R1 with a Clean CarFAX. No Wrecks or Body Repairs. Six light hail dents on roof near drivers door. Original Paint. Suede seats and very stiff suspension. One of the best RX7 R1's you will find. Still smells new. Interior is perfect. My car is a 1993 RX7 Vintage Red R1 Twin Turbo with 37K original miles. If you are not familiar with the RX7’s between 1993 and 1995 you may not even know what one looks like. 93 to 95 RX7’s are also referred to as “FD” or “3rd Generation” and 1995 was the last year for RX7’s. I am often stopped by people asking what kind of car it is. The R1 is about the best handling street legal factory car ever built. The R1 was an option you could order that had the stiffest suspension and a few other mods that made it the factory hot rod of hot rod RX7’s. I had it entered in the “Texas Classic Car” show this year. It was in the TexasRX’s car club group. There was only one other 1994 Rx7 in the group and was not a R1. Our two cars drew much of the interest for our club that one the Best Club Participation that also was in the top five awards given. I had an avid car collector tell me that he had owned many exotic sports cars over the years including Ferrari’s and Porsche’s but his 1993 R1 cornered and handled better than any car he had ever owned.
My RX7 is completely stock except for the radio that the original owner had replaced. I still have the original paper tag that the dealer installed in 1993. I am the third owner. I bought it from a car collector in Las Vegas earlier this year. He had an enclosed trailer he hauled it in and also entered it in a few car shows as well. It had 34K mile when I bought it. I drove it back from Las Vegas to Austin with no problems. When looking for 1993 to 1995 RX7’s to buy you will find that 98% of them are torn up, ragged out and or heavily modified. The stock 1993 to 1995 twin turbo RX7’s are high strung sophisticated race type engines that the average Joe didn’t or couldn’t understand to operate or maintain properly. You can not operate this car like a Camero, Corvette, Mustang, or other typical piston engine domestic performance cars; it will destroy the engine. You must let it idle a reach full operating temperature before any hard acceleration, and let it idle for a few minutes after driving it hard. You should change the oil at least every 2000 miles or even less. I change the oil every 1000 miles with Mobile 1 synthetic. Stay on top of the cooling system and make sure there is no problems. If you do all of that the engines will last a long time (100k to 120K miles). The 1993 to 1995 almost caused Mazda to go bankrupt because it was just to must for the average owner to handle. My Vintage Red R1 is only one of 1177 made in 1993. There was only 1665 R1’s ever made in any color. There was only three colors of R1’s anyway; Competition Yellow Mica, Brilliant Black, and Vintage Red. All R1’s were built in 1993.
