This book is much more than a history of the high-quality cameras and lenses that have made Nikon a renowned name in the world of photography. It is also a chronicle of the birth of this Japanese manufacturer and the way in which it has evolved to keep abreast of advances in technology and ahead of the competition. Profusely illustrated throughout with rare archive material from around the world, and augmented by a feast of original pictures of the cameras in use, the text is enhanced by extensive appendices containing a wealth of information for the avid Nikon collector.

Nikon Celebration:
A very comprehensive look at the history of Nikon. This is a "must have" for the Nikon Collector. Everything from the Rangefinders to the "F" mount SLR's. Included are serial number charts with manufacturing dates for bodies and lenses.
Serious Nikon fans:
I found this book not very interesting. Nothing depth about Nikon. Those are old stuffs that we found any where in Nikon sites. It is a well organize with some information good for a Nikon starter but not for serious fans. We know and we seen almost all of it . The author just pull bits and pieces together and I found no NEWS kind of bore. Good presentation for all information and a heavy book

Still the photos and topics discussed are quite extensive so my comment is a minor... more info
Who is the intended reader of this book?:

Long has thoroughly researched his subject and clearly knows what he is talking about. The strengths of this book, in comparison to those mentioned above, are its extensive use... more info
